Halloween eve is perhaps the perfect time to meditate on all the things that scare us. Apart from those longstanding phobias, it's likely that this list looks rather different from when we were kids. Fanciful fears like the monster under the bed have probably been replaced with the miserable realism of job insecurity, and the ever-rising cost of living. Who said adulthood was going to be fun?

When you sit down and think about it, it's pretty wild how many of us approach the matters of earning money with angst and alarm. Sadly, this attitude often comes from experience. Most of us aren't temporarily embarrassed millionaires, but we are a couple of missed paychecks away from not being able to afford a roof over our heads.

However, it's not like that should stop us complaining about the work that just about keeps us under that roof. Work memes are part humor, part outlet of frustration. They know the pain.
